Sachin Tendulkar: India’s True Icon Makes Emotional Farewell Speech

Sachin Tendulkar gave cricket aficionados three enthralling and emotionally exhausting days of Test cricket. Yet before walking away, he left behind an emotional, inspirational tale of passion, perseverance and triumph that will be recalled as plausibly the greatest amongst Indian stories post independence.

Sachin Tendulkar : Cricket :: Michael Schumacher : Formula One Racing

by Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

Sachin Tendulkar may be turning into an old man by numbers, certainly old by sportsman’s standards at thirty-eight years of age. But he is perhaps the most hungry cricketer that the world is privileged to witness, which is why perhaps cricket cannot afford the vacuum of his absence.

Trevor Chesterfield –The Wind Beneath the Wings ( A Personal Tribute )

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

Trevor Chesterfield’s greatest tribute to the game was in bringing to life, with words, what seemed to be an otherwise mundane day on the cricket field and enhancing the experience of the game with the art of fascinating, insightful and engaging storytelling.

India Win ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 With Nerves of Steel

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

They overcame tremendous odds. They used opportunities optimally. And they never gave up. To sum it up, that has been India’s story in Test cricket and in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 to justify why there has been a new belief about this Indian cricket team as they went onto lift the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 trophy at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on the  memorable night of the 2nd of April, 2011.

Innings of Contrasting Shades Against South Africa Should Concern India

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

The disgusted look on Gary Kirsten’s face said it all. After all, India revealed their Jekyll and Hyde side in the span of one innings, that too after having the opposition eating out of their hands for the better part of it.

ICC Cricket World Cup 2011: Sachin Tendulkar’s 47th ODI Ton Predictable against England

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

Anyone who saw Sachin Tendulkar as India went through the national anthem knew something special was on the cards. The manner in which he merely resolutely acknowledged the crowd without the pomp and bravado that usually accompanies teams suggested that Tendulkar felt he had a job he had to do. And it would seem he did precisely that against England in their encounter in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011.

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, Not Sachin Tendulkar, is the More Feared in the Indian Dressing Room

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

As India embark on one of their strongest World Cup campaigns yet, while the euphoria surrounding Sachin Tendulkar is more about sentiment, the base of that strength in the team stems from none other than the team captain.

ICC Sending Minnows out of ICC Cricket World Cup is Their Own Mirror Reflection

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

This was certainly not the hospitality expected of the otherwise sedate ICC. What made them jump the gun? Often admonished for reacting late, the ICC have perhaps suffered an initial ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 financial assessment jolt. That could be the only explanation why after allowing the captains of the teams from the associate nations ride in rickshaws in the opening ceremony, the ICC nearly sent them back the same way.

Ponting’s LCD TV Smash The Highlight of the ICC Cricket World Cup 2011 Opening Week?

By Sreelata S. Yellamrazu

The headline is not misleading. If one were to merely sit back and watch all that is currently happening in the cricket world, apart from the minnows actually being given the boot after the welcome garland from the ICC, it has been Ricky Ponting and his famous, or should we say infamous, TV-smashing, headline-grabbing incident in a match that should have been remembered for Ponting’s World Cup record breaking feat of forty World Cup match appearances, that has stirred the pot of hype, frenzy and controversy. ( Finally somebody is asking: who were Australia playing against?)
